Nearly as many working moms as dads are sole financial provider
Nearly as many working moms (34 percent) are the sole financial providers in their families as men (39 percent), according to a new survey by CareerBuilder.
The survey also found that, with more women taking on financial responsibilities for their families and today’s demanding work environments, some women feel they have to reduce their time on maternity leave.
Among female respondents who have had a child in the past three years, 30 percent did not take the full time allotted by maternity leave. Forty-five percent of those respondents report that they took more than eight weeks of maternity leave; however, 17 percent took off four weeks or less, and 12 percent took only two weeks or less.
The survey also found that female respondents say they have difficulties finding the right work-life balance. Nearly a quarter of female respondents say they spend just two hours or less with their children during each day of the workweek, and 28 percent of female respondents even say their children have asked them to work less.
Another 17 percent of females respondents agree that their jobs are taking a toll on their relationships with their children while 12 percent of female respondents say negative impacts are occurring in their relationships with their spouses or significant others, as well.
“The household dynamic has changed over the years with women reshaping traditional roles,” said Rosemary Haefner, vice president of human resources at CareerBuilder. “Women account for more than half of the U.S. work force and are often the breadwinners for their households. While many women successfully manage careers and families, the quest for more quality time at home will always be top of mind.”

Let’s talk about Pizza
Everyone loves pizza. What everyone loves even more is getting a good deal on a pizza!
So since there are so many deals out there, let’s compare the different pizza deals that are being advertised.
Little Caesars Pizza – 3 Meat Trio Large – $8 – for the money this is my favorite!
* If you like a pizza with 3 different meats available, this one to me is the best value.
Domino’s Pizza – 2 Topping Medium Pizza – $7.99 Personal Pan Pizza or 2 Medium 2 Topping Pizzas – $5.99 each
* The 2 Medium pizza deal is good if your willing to spend $2 more but you lose one of your meat selections with this one. Also the thing to consider is the fact the you now have to order 2 pizzas to get your deal.
Papa Johns – No advertised specials online
Pizza Hut – 2 Medium Pizza with any toppings for $8 – must order 2
* Again, you must order 2 pizza’s and you only get 2 toppings as opposed to 3 with the competitor.
Uno’s Pizza – Any 2 thin crust pizzas – $13.99
* Of all the pizza companies, this one is probably the worst deal if you are comparing just price. This one is not the winner for me.
I welcome your opinion about this comparison and look forward to see how other people feel about my pizza comparisons.
5 reasons why life insurance benefits your clients
Here are five reasons why life insurance benefits your clients:
1. Living benefits
Life insurance death benefits can be unlocked by adding living benefit riders. Activate the death benefit for long-term care, chronic illness and even critical illness coverage. Don’t let your clients drain their savings and retirement accounts to pay for unexpected health changes. Leverage a life insurance policy to pay for care in a tax-efficient manner.
2. Cash value
Life insurance can help protect your clients’ assets from creditors. With the ability to provide both tax-deferred growth and tax-free disbursements, life insurance can be the supplement that fits perfectly into your clients’ retirement portfolios.
3. Business succession
Small business owners rarely have ready access to capital or a plan for succession. Life insurance can be used to bridge the gap between inadequate or illiquid capital and a comfortable retirement. It can also aid in providing a tax-break for the business and fund a retirement account for business owners.
4. Tax treatment
What will tax brackets look like in 10 years? What about 20 years from now? Take the guesswork out of at least a portion of your clients’ portfolios. When designed correctly, a life insurance policy can be a great diversification to a portfolio. Being able to put money into a policy that will grow tax-deferred, and can still be accessed tax-free through policy loans, is an incredible provision that is permissible by the IRS. Take advantage of one of the few “tax-favored” vehicles left for consumers.
5. Death benefit
Provide a death benefit to beneficiaries. Whether used to mitigate estate taxes or make an estate whole, a tax-free death benefit can create a lasting legacy. Life insurance was formerly one-dimensional in that it only provided a death benefit. Now, with all of the features that can be added, there are many dimensions to what a life insurance policy can do for your client. However, life insurance policies still provide the basic necessity that they were designed for — a tax-free death benefit to heirs.

Ryan Seacrest gifts $3 million mansion to Julianne Hough
While Hough was mid break-up and likely closing on her new Los Angeles home, she found the time to list and sell her Nashville condo, writes Zillow. Located at 900 20th Avenue in the heart of Nashville, Hough paid $649,000 for the 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom, 1,829 square foot condo in 2009. She relocated primarily to Los Angeles in the past couple years, and likely had the property leased out to a tenant. She sold the condo on Jan. 7, 2013 for $900,000.

♥ 12 SURPRISING USES FOR VICKS VOPORUB ♥
1. Decongest Your Chest
The most common use of Vicks is to decongest your chest and throat area. When applied to the upper chest, it provides excellent relief of cough and congestion symptoms.
2. On Your Tootsies
Applying Vicks to your feet provides nighttime cough relief. Generously rub VapoRub all over your feet and cover them with socks. Your cough will subside.
3. Achy Breaky Muscles
Vicks relieves sore, overworked muscles. It increases circulation and provides almost instant aid. Use a generous portion and apply it over the aching area.
4. Get Rid of Nasty Nail Fungus
Rub VapoRub on your toenails if you suspect you have a fungus. Within days, the nail will turn dark—this means the Vicks is killing the fungus. As your toenail grows out, the dark part will grow off and you will have fungus-free feet. Keep applying the ointment over a period of two weeks to fully cleanse nail beds of any remaining bacteria.
5. Stop Your Cat from Scratching
To prevent Miss Kitty from ruining your doors, walls, and windows, apply a small amount of VapoRub to these areas. Cats detest the smell and will steer clear. Vicks can also be applied to your arms and legs if your kitty is prone to scratching you.
6. Pet Pee-Pee Deterrent
If your dog or cat is not yet potty trained, put an open bottle of Vicks on the area he or she likes to mark as their territory. The smell will discourage them from lifting their legs and wetting your rug.
7. Headaches Be Gone
Rub a small amount of Vicks VapoRub on your temples and forehead to help relieve headaches. The mentholated scent will release pressure in your head and instantly relieve pain.
8. Humidify Your Sleep
Vicks VapoRub can be used in special types of humidifiers and vaporizers. Ensure your humidifier has an aromatherapy compartment before using. The humidifier will circulate Vicks throughout the air and keep you breathing easy all night long.
9. Paper Cuts and Splinters
To prevent infection and speed up healing time, dab a small amount of Vicks on any small cut or splinter.
10. Ticks and Bugs
If you get bitten by a tick, apply Vicks immediately. The strong odor might help get the critter to release itself and stop bugging you.
11. Reek-free Racehorses
Professional racers smother VapoRub under the nostrils of racehorses on race day. The strong stench deters the stallions from the alluring odor of the female pony and keeps them focused on the race.
12. Go Away Mosquitoes
Apply small dabs of Vicks VapoRub to your skin and clothes and mosquitoes will steer clear. If you do get bitten, apply Vicks to the area and cover it with a Band-Aid to relieve itching.
18 characteristics of a professional salesperson
There was a time not so long ago when accountants, attorneys, doctors, some musicians, certain ball players, the clergy and a few others earned the right to be called a “professional.” But that was about it.
More recently, the dam burst and we’re now flooded with professionals. Everyone wants in the club. It’s as if just calling ourselves a “professional salesperson” is magical, lifting us above all those unfortunates, the “unprofessionals.”
For “professional” to mean something special, something unique, something above the crowd, it requires content that’s specific and concrete, a standard against which a salesperson’s behavior can be viewed and measured.
The only definition of “professional” that makes any difference is how customers define it. Looking through the eyes of customers, take a look at the qualities that describe what it means to be a professional today:
Understands what’s important to a customer. Recognizes that valuing what the customer regards as important is the basis of their relationship.
Takes responsibility. Doesn’t make excuses or blame others when a problem arises.
Asks questions. Wants to understand the issues or the problem before offering solutions.
Follows through. Never leaves issues up in the air or anyone guessing. Gets back to customers quickly with information and answers.
Keeps promises. Doesn’t leave a customer hanging or wondering. Does what’s agreed on without being reminded.
Knows that learning is endless. Doesn’t get to a particular knowledge level and stop, while others stick with outdated products, concepts and solutions.
Seeks performance improvement. Comes away from sales presentations and asks, “What could I have done better?”
Stays in touch. Understands the value of making sure customers and support staff are always in the loop.
Never says, “I’ve paid my dues.” Doesn’t act like a prima donna or expect special consideration.
Recognizes when help is needed. Asking for help deepens one’s knowledge base and is smart business, while “faking it” fosters deception.
Thrives on problem-solving. Views these as opportunities to demonstrate value by assisting customers with troublesome situations.
Understands the harm of “cutting corners.” While taking the easy way out is often camouflaged as saving time, professionals know it can easily become a slippery slope.
Never expects a quid pro quo. Acts in the best interest of the customer, which, at times, may mean foregoing a sale.
Welcomes challenges. Sees difficult tasks as growth opportunities rather than as bothersome interruptions.
Wants to be ahead of the curve. Constantly works to be seen by customers as thoughtful and forward thinking.
Never considers anything “beneath me.” Will tell you that getting his or her hands dirty is part of the job.
Doesn’t like saying to a customer, “I’ll get back to you about that.” With a tablet and smartphone, the professional salesperson works hard at responding instantly to customer requests.
Views selling as helping. The professional salesperson knows that trust is earned by using knowledge and experience to assist customers in reaching their goals, not just closing a sale.
Whether it’s selling a product, service, an idea, a vision or an opportunity, the need has never been greater for those who have earned the right to call themselves professional salespeople.
